What to wear to a...

Hold on to your headband kids, I'm about to do a fashion post.
Cue surprised face collage. I knew that one day I'd get to use this collage I made!

I went to a Dallas Mavericks game this weekend and was appalled at some of the outfits I saw.
Let's just say I was inspired to write this post.
I'll break this bad boy topic into three parts.

Part 1: What to wear to a Basketball Game

Disclaimer: no I am not a fashion blogger, no I am not a "fashionista"
I, however,  am a "Maxxanista" and a "Foreveranista" and a "H&Mista"
and that about covers all my istas.

Each type of sport, and level calls for a different dress code.
And not every sport needs a $120 jersey. But some do...
Do's In the NBA
I recommend: Jeans, ballet flats and a cute top
lots-o-stairs, being able to easily walk I consider to be generally helpful.
{again, not a fashion blogger so I'm sorry if my idea of a cute top and yours is very different}
I'm going to go out on a limb here and say it isn't even necessary to have on your team's logo...
-- or, if you trust celebs more than me --

Or my personal fav... Go on Ri Ri. Love it.

Don'ts for the NBA:
Please, no Jerseys. Jerseys are not cut for women or our side boobage.
No Stilettos, remember that whole walking thing I was talking about?
I don't care how freaking fabulous those Loubis are, leave em at home B.
No need for club attire. You can change later, Kim.

Do's for College Basketball:
You need to wear your team's logo and/or colors.
Unlike NBA,
the whole point here is to be nuts and crazy obsessed with your school.

HBO Girls reference time:

The NBA is like Hannah...
"I'm cool, I have a killer graphic t-shirt on and I'm laid back but awesome and edgy without trying"

NCAA is Shoshanna
"OMG like I totally love this team, like they are totes amazingnessballs. I mean I like respect the other team but I'm personally just not into them but I can totally respect them I just totally am into like my team and everything that my team does is so fabulous and like totally awesome."

My favorite look? Jeans, converse and a great T-shirt

Don'ts for NCAA Basketball
samesies as NBA.
No jerseys, No strappy stilettos, you ain't goin to the club.

Side note: please someone find out how to get Oliva Wilde and Jason Sudeikis to notice me and make me their BFF x 20.

I'll be back another day when another installment of What to wear to a...
Until then here are my favorite places to find great logo'ed gear:

  1. Love this! I hope there's an NFL/NHL/Baseball one coming soon. Especially baseball... can I wear a sundress? But what if it's a first date to a game? Pressing questions!

    1. NFL and Baseball fo sho! NHL... that one I gotta prep a bit for. Perhaps do some "field research" at a Dallas Stars game very soon!

And dang girl, those are good questions! I'm good with sundress to baseball game if it is casual enough. And if you have a first date taking you to a professional game.... hold on to that one tight.

  2. Awesome post - and I signed up for the NCAA bracket challenge. I know nothing about basketball since I grew up as a hockey player, but I'm down to try it out.

    1. It seriously makes the entire tournament SO much more entertaining when you have something at steak on the games. Ordinarily, who would care who won a game like, Butler vs. Bucknell (unless of course you went to Butler or Bucknell) But if you picked a certain team to win, it just makes it WAY more fun to watch!

    1. I have been in Rupp.... Black eyed peas concert circa 2010, nosebleed... if you can get up and down those stairs in stilettos I would be uber impressed!

  4. I love the 'fashion' post! I'll just add my two cents, if I may. Now maybe it's just me, but I also strongly dislike (hate may be too strong of a word, but it's close!) the pink jerseys for every NFL team, made for women. I'm not sure if they do it for NBA or not, but pink tight jerseys should not be a thing, since there is no team with that as a main color. end of rant. ;-)

    1. Oh. MY. GOSH. YES x 10000000 I was going to address that in the next edition of What to wear. The most iconic (and horrific) is Jessica Simpson rocking that darn Pink romo jersey.

  5. Kim Kardashian looks like an asshat in that getup.

Look at Ashley Judd in her UK shirt. I just love her. Obviously!

  7. TENNESSEE TENNESSEE TENNESSEE. Girl, I think you're my soulmate. East TN, born and raised right here! And some of the outfits I see at football games just make me pull a face like that kitten up there - tongue out because I'm gagging at atrocities, of course. {Sidenote: I NEED that kitten as my pet.}

I just found your blog through my friend Erin @ Love, Fun & Football, and I'm so glad I did!

    1. Well, ordinarily I would wear that dress Kim K has on, because you know nothing is more flattering than spray paint leather. But for the sake of this post I decided I'd play up the t-shirt and jeans look.

  9. I am so glad Erin linked this post on twitter. I love your posts! As another sports-loving gal, I can relate. If only JJ wasn't one of your favorite players......
I love this post. I hate when I see girls wearing stilletos and stripper dresses at games, like who does that?
