Best Apps For Boozing and Drinking

You guys are gonna laugh at me. I started this post with the title, "Apps Every Basic Blogger Needs." But then I realized that many of my apps had to do with happy hours and cocktails and thought that perhaps we would make this bad boy a two-parter (or three or four? I have a lot of apps on my phone). In the honor of Thirsty Thursday, I bring you, "The Best Apps for Drinking and Boozing!"

As the name suggests, Mixology is a giant database of cocktail recipes. But what you'll really love is the "Liquor Cabinet" tab, which lets you enter all the liquors and mixers you have on hand, and it searches the entire database for all the cocktails you're able to make!

Happy Hours shows all of the food and drink specials going on near you. Living in Dallas, NOTHING is ever on special... or so I thought. I opened this app, and realized that there are happy hours all around me, and they even take place at times I can actually make after battling rush hour. A happy hour that finishes at 6pm is impossible.. but a happy hour that continues until 8 or 9pm... now we're talkin'!

Bar Happy is your nightlife tour guide. Whether you crave happy hour specials, the best local sports bar, or an evening of karaoke, we can point you in the right direction. I love this for two reasons, CB and I are always on the hunt for a dart board, pool table or shuffleboard, and this app lets us find it. It also lets you search for sports bars showing YOUR FAVORITE SPORTS TEAM. Hellooooo BIG ORANGE FOOTBALL in Dallas!

Three different apps :: Drizly // Saucey // Minibar :: ALL DELIVER BOOZE TO YOUR FRONT DOOR.

Did you hear me?!? They DELIVER BOOZE TO YOUR FRONT DOOR. Whoa. Just Whoa.

Unfortunately, none of these are in Dallas yet, but you will be able to find one of these in most major cities! I'd start with Drizly, it currently covers the most locations.

I'm not sure 100 plus drinking games needs further elaboration...

Heads Up! is the fun and hilarious game from Ellen DeGeneres that she plays on her show, and you can play with your friends! It is perfect when you have a group of people over to your place, or even a booth in the bar. If you've ever played the very addicting game, Catch Phrase, then you'll love Heads Up as a drinking game!

Ohhh snap! This one is a game changer (hah, puns). Did you know Cards Against Humanity comes in app form? Evil Apples Evil Apples is a filthy and hilarious card game inspired by the popular party game Cards Against Humanity. You can play with your friends on have the app downloaded, or you can even play in random games with random strangers... you know, if you enjoy drinking at home alone.

You're a nutcase if you don't have this app on your phone. Cheaper than a taxi (always go with Uber X) Uber gets you home SAFELY after a night of boozing. Payment is done via the app, tipping is included, you can pay with paypal and you can even split the bill with everyone in the car. Never ever be dumb and drink and drive when there are solutions, cheaper than a vodka soda, right there at the touch of a button.

So do you have any apps I don't know about that would be great for boozing??
Do tell, do tell!

Before I peace out today, I've got my girl Jamie from The Growing Up Diaries doing a Q and A with me! We are talking all things wedding, blogging and of course... PIZZA! Duh!

Hellooo VTIM readers! My name is Jamie and I blog over at The Growing Up Diaries. Although things have been pretty quite around my neck of the woods lately because I happen to be getting married in two days! Which is the most exciting and stressful thing I've experienced this far in my almost 25 years of life. Allow me to make one suggestion to anyone embarking on a wedding planning adventure... stock your fridge with wine. And liquor. You'll need it. With that said, I'll answer some questions to allow you to get to know me a little better!

Tell us about your blog - When did you start blogging and why? What do you love to blog about? I have blogged on and off for, oh, about 10 years now on nearly every blogging platform that there is. What always keeps me coming back is that when things get stressful, it's the easiest way to vent. My favorite things to blog about are anything that is close to my heart - whether it's my experiences, my relationship or my pooch - whatever is making me happiest in that moment is my favorite topic.

What are your favorite and least favorite parts about running a blog? My favorite part, aside from it being an outlet, is absolutely the people you meet through blogging. I've gotten to see the world from perspectives that I never would have gotten to otherwise and that is just amazing. As for least favorite... it's also the people. The mean ones who have nothing better to do than try to make people feel bad for being themselves or writing about whatever they want to write about. It's the internet - if you don't like what someone has to say, click the "X" or go watch cat videos!

You're getting married! What are you looking forward to the most on your wedding day? Yes I am! Holy cow, I really am. I'm really looking most forward to the moment the ceremony is over and I get to go eat, drink and dance with all of my favorite people in the world. Planning a wedding is stressful as hell and I think I've earned a night of fun!

What part of the planning process are you the most happy about finally being over? Aside from everything? Definitely forking over money for all of the things. There are so. many. things. Expensive things and non-expensive thing that add up to be expensive anyway.

What's your junk food weakness? Pizza. All pizza all the time. My soon to be husband is a saint for putting up with my choosing pizza at least two nights a week. I cannot help that it's the perfect food.

What's your favorite holiday to celebrate? Thanksgiving. It centers around my three favorite things - family, food and football.

Tell us about your puppy! And share photos, we love puppy photos.

My fluffiest best friend is named Izzy and she is basically the center of our universe. She's a yorkie-poodle mix who loves snuggling, stealing pepperoni and popcorn and HATES selfies (which I force her to take with me) and getting wet. I saw her on our local shelters facebook page almost a year ago and it was love at first sight. Best choice I've ever made! I mean, except for choosing to date my fiance... of course...

What gif best sums up you/your blog?
Lately...

But after this Saturday...

Don't forget to come say hello!

  1. These are fantastic, Sarah, thank you for sharing! That Mixology one is awesome, since my boyfriend and I always have the weirdest assortment of alcohol and mixers on hand. I actually prefer Lyft to Uber when it comes to rideshare apps. It's a LOT more affordable and while my friends have gotten punked by Uber a couple of times, everyone has had great success with Lyft.

  3. Being the craft beer nerd that I am, I use Untappd to track and rate my beers. Once you've had over hundreds of different beers, it's hard to keep track of what you've already had and what's worth buying again. Plus you earn badges, who doesn't love instant gratification?

  4. Hahaha before I read this, I assumed it was the best appetizers for boozing. Because pregaming your drinking with eating is always necessary.

  5. These are great! I'm definitely downloading Happy Hours and Evil Apples. And Uber is a MUST HAVE! In NYC we have the option of hailing a yellow cab with the app which is super nice and still a bit cheaper. One of my favs!
