Are You 1 of 48%?

This post is part of a social shopper marketing insight campaign with Pollinate Media Group® and TurboTax, but all my opinions are my own. #pmedia #TurboTaxACA http://my-disclosur.es/OBsstV

Before I began blogging or started my own business, taxes were easy and fast! Texas nor Tennessee has a state income tax, so it was just one little W2 that stood between me and a juicy shopping trip to the mall or girl's trip with my sorority sisters from college. I never followed the news, nor did I actively seek out new policies and procedures for filing each year's taxes.

As I get older, there are way more forms. Forms from all sorts of different companies that I have worked with, either through blogging or graphic design, and then of course my W2 from my full time position. As I get older, the way I spend my return, or rather don't spend my return, has changed as well. But, even though I'm 28 years old now, I still don't actively seek out new policies and procedures for filing each year's taxes. This is why I file each year with TurboTax

At this point, we have all heard of the Affordable Care Act. One of the biggest perks of my current position, was the fantastic health insurance and 401k benefits they offered their employees. So since I already had health insurance through my company, I really didn't do as much research as a probably should have on the Affordable Care Act.

For example, did you know (and if you are like 48% of Americans, and like me, then you did not) that you are required to report your health insurance status on your 2014 tax returns? TurboTax Health provides users with the tools to understand health care and your taxes, no matter your health insurance situation! Plus, if you think you are expecting a health care penalty, TurboTax Health can help you see if you qualify to have that penalty waved! Pretty cool, huh?

As I mentioned on Instagram earlier this week, I am smack dab in the middle of a 10 day work trip for the Miami Boat Show. Although I don't have a lot of free time, the free time that I do have I'm stuck at the hotel without any mode of transportation. A beautiful hotel with a great pool... but still stuck, none-the-less.

So I figured I would go ahead and knock out my taxes. Not only is it fast and very easy using TurboTax, but the convenience of using my computer and not having to go to an office somewhere is the best.

Doing your taxes in a someone's office somewhere......
Orrrrrrr doing your taxes with this pretty spectacular view and not putting it off until April?

I also really liked using TurboTax because I could stop the process at any point and come back at a later time. Which was really nice because I never know when I'll be needed on these types of trips.

Health insurance open enrollment ends on Sunday, February 15, that's this weekend! With that said, this is the last chance you’ll have to purchase insurance to avoid a penalty on your taxes next year. You can check out TurboTax Health to learn more about your health insurance and taxes, including finding out if you’re exempt from the tax penalty.

While you’re at it, don’t forget to go to TurboTax to file today for absolutely free before February 16 if you have a simple return (1040A/EZ).

  2. I have used them before, unfortunately they are now being investigated for fraudulent tax fliers and a data breech by the FBI.

  3. We just finished our taxes (did them with Turbo Tax!) the other night and it feels SO good to have them done! In previous years we have been so bad about putting it off and then we're in panic mode so I was determined to get them done early this year!

  7. I love TT! For some odd reason, I feel super grown up when I do my own taxes. I feel accomplished and like I defeated the system if I don't have to pay to have them done! I'd much rather do them poolside versus on my couch watching TV! xoxo, ganeeban
