Everyone has a cell phone these days. Moms, dads, kids, uncles, dogs... all have smart phones. We are always connected, and quite frankly I'm just fine with that. Sure it is nice to disconnect when friends and family are in town, but when you live over a thousand miles away from home, it is a true blessing to have a plan that offers unlimited talk text and data/web. To be able to skype, call, text, tweet and facebook my family whenever my heart desires is actually priceless to me.

This Christmas I'm going to upgrade my grandma (Nan is what I call her) from a flip phone to a smart phone, the Samsung Galaxy Exhibit. I found out about the Walmart Family Mobile plan, and it is staggeringly less than I currently pay each month. With the Walmart Family Mobile service, it is just $34.88/month for Unlimited Talk, Text, and Web access, and just $29.88 for a second line. It comes with 5GB of 3G Data. This higher speed bucket allows you to do even more with your plan.

So a few nights ago, CB and I headed to Walmart to pick up Nan's new cell phone. I had done the siteTOstore option where I paid online, and the phone was waiting for me at layaway. There was a line to pick up my phone, so I decided to do a little light reading while we waited! 

Good book. It is a book that really makes you put your thinking cap on, but other than that I highly recommend. 
Just so you can easily find it, should you not choose site to store, the Walmart Family Plans are located in the electronics department! 

In addition to getting Nan the new phone, I also wanted to learn how to use the phone myself, so I can easily teach her how to text, take photos, facebook and skype. You know, that whole teach a man to fish story! 
So last night I used it to meetup with my friend Vanessa at the Dallas Stars game. I was able to both text and call her outside of American Airlines, which can sometimes be tricky with all of those fans clogging up the airwaves. We even snapped some pics in the Hangar team store.... I'll go ahead and leave that photo on there for Nan, I think she'll like it!

Nan will actually be turning 90 years old next year, and the woman has Facebook and even plays fantasy football. I'm not kidding, she beat me in our league........ twice. With this new phone, she will be able to check her fantasy football stats using the yahoo app! Although, come to think of it, I'm not sure I want to help give her any more advantages.
