The Best Songs of 2014 // The Worst Songs of 2014

I actually arrange my Spotify playlists by month, and each month I create a new playlist. Last year, for Helene's linkup I picked the best and worst country songs of the year. This year though, I thought I would just pick one song from each month's playlist that I still love, and one that if I hear one more time I might hurt someone. Why I ever put some of these songs on my playlist, the world may never know!

Jason Derulo is hit or miss for me. But this song, yup still dig it today!

Story of My Life // One Direction 

This was my jam when it first came out. I would basically scream this with all the windows up for fear of being judged. There is a chance I even facebook declared my love for this song. Then I heard it 4 million times and I have since moved on.

I think this song was released in 2013 but that is neither here nor there. Need a song that will make you feel you can take on the world (or the treadmill...)? Well this this is your go to. 

  :::Worst::: Neon Lights // Demi Lovato Loved it until I didn't. Sorry Demi, keep up the good work doe....   

 :::Best::: Take Me to Church // Hozier I heard it last night... still jammed my face off to it. On an unrelated note, I'd like to see what this guy looks like with a hair cut. Thoughts on that anyone?   :::Worst::: All of Me // John Legend Fun fact though, I once hung on his tour bus with my friend Magen!  Cool story bro.

:::Best::: Turn Down For What // Lil Jon, DJ Snake You think this wouldn't make the list? Psht. Yeah right. Lil Jon is my bestie, remember?

:::Best:::  Eric Church // Cold One Let's switch it up, and hit my country lovers for the month of May.  Eric Church is my man and he can do no wrong. 
:::Worst::: Brad Paisley // River Bank I don't like anything Brad Paisley does and I plead temporary insanity during May for adding this to my playlist. 

:::Best:::  Miranda Mother Flipping Lambert This is the month her CD Platinum was released, since I can't link all 16 songs, I'll link my favorite, Holding on To You!    :::Worst::: Can't Get Away From A Good Time // Logan Mize   Woof. 

:::Best::: Shut Me Up // Old Dominion   If you are a country music fan, you'll love every song this band releases. They are song writers for some of your favorite artists too like Keith Urban, The Band Perry and Dierks Bentley. Plus, this song came out right around the time when I realized how I sounded talking about CB! 
:::Worst::: Hangover // PSY, Snoop Dogg Yeah scream hangover at me 487 times, that'll help. 

:::Best:::  Jubel //  Klingande  This is one of those songs that you just want to run through a field with a billowy, flowing scarf like a Free People model. 
:::Worst::: All About That Bass // Meghan Trainor I see no reason to link to this. You've heard it.  Helene, it looks like a lot of our "worsts" are linking up! 

Ok now things are going to get tricky, the Rap game went HAM in September....   :::Best::: Or Nah // Ty Dolla $ign I'm a big big rap fan. Sorry mom.  A couple of months ago, Ty Dolla $ign was doing a show in Deep Ellum, and he came out of his tour bus right as CB and I were walking by.  He asked us where the courthouse was.... and we said we didn't know!!  *CUE THE ONE DIRECTION LITTLE GIRL SQUEAAAAL!*   :::Worst::: Cool Kids // Echosmith If you wanna be like the cool kids then just do it good god almighty.

:::Worst::: A Sky Full of Stars // Coldplay I'm sorry I've never gotten into Coldplay.  Nor have I ever liked Dave Matthews Band. Go ahead and get angry, I can take it.

:::Best::: I Don't F With You // Big Sean (again, sorry mom) I don't pick the titles here mom, I'm really sorry.  I just enjoy a good jingle, ipso facto, this song made my list   :::Worst::: Chandelier // Sia I think my issue with this song is that I get excited when it comes on, because I think it is a song I like, then I listen to 3/4ths of the song only to realize it is the worst song ever made. --
Ok too harsh? Do you never want to party with me now?  Orrrrrrrr... can you not wait to party with me now? Tell me how it is, I can take it!  (unless you have something negative to say about Miranda in which case go away)

Simple. Honest. Heartfelt.

I was never a big quote person until I discovered the wonderful world of Pinterest. When I saw Helene and Taylor's prompt for today I knew I wanted to linkup because I have a full Pinterest board, Sarah Written All over It, of quotes I love. Now, most of them are certainly not profound, nor are they by a famous philosopher... well that is unless John Locke also said, "Don't Stop... Get It Get It."
As much as I love love, serious and lovey-dovey quotes with flowery words and complex metaphors are not my favorite. Even though the classics are said to be beautiful, I have a hard time understanding what some of those old school poets even meant. 
Take for example the quote read in Sex and the City, "Love Letters From Great Men":

Though still in bed, my thoughts go out to you, my Immortal Beloved, now and then joyfully, then sadly, waiting to learn whether or not fate will hear us - I can live only wholly with you or not at all 

Yup, you lost me, sorry bro. This would not get a repin from me. Had you simply said any one of these below, you totally would have gotten a big ole repin from Sarah Webb. (Oh yeah, and the first one is from your's truly. See, who needs Beethoven?!) 

  Simple. Honest. Heartfelt. Can't stop it from spilling out of your mouth when you're around that person. That makes for a good ole love quote in my book! 
I think the best quotes are the quotes that you made. The ones that you thought up. Next time you say something hilarious, or loving, or sweet, or inspiring...  stick it on a piece of paper or type it up in photoshop and pin that bad boy. My favorite quotes are the quotes that I can understand and relate to... because, 2014... not 1614.

It's #FavTotalSocial time with me and Helene! My original plan was to repost my favorite blog post I had ever written. But I changed my mind, because, I'm a girl and that's what we do.

Side note: I started to make an X chromosome joke just then. But I had to google to confirm which chromosome it was that women had because I was busy doodling "Mrs. Sarah DiCaprio" and "Sarah hearts Ashton" the day we talked about that in Mr. Steven's 6th grade science class. I then learned it was the X chromosome that we have, and the website I was reading said the X chromosome comes with a larger user manual than the Y chromosome. I laughed and laughed and laughed at that subtle gender joke. Get it science, you're one funny kid. Sorry I never paid more attention to you in middle school, especially since I bet you're filthy stinking rich now.

As I've mentioned about a million times, I moved from Knoxville to Dallas in September of 2012 ---- whoa it has actually been a while now, I guess I can't really pull the new card anymore can I? I knew I wanted to live in a big city, so I started applying for jobs in my top two choices, Chicago and Dallas. A fantastic offer with a fantastic company came my way, and without hesitation, I chose the Big D and headed 842 miles south with my best friend Lisa and her husband Justin who helped me move! 

I work for an international outboard motor company where I do graphic design, advertising and marketing for the North American market. My job duties in Knoxville were actually very similar, albeit a totally different company. I can't tell you how much I enjoy working as the only member of a department, versus being just a number in a gigantic marketing/advertising agency. 
Different tasks and challenges present themselves each day, and I honestly learn something new each and every single day. For example, I'm currently working on learning all about google adwords, which is fun and quite useful knowledge to have!  See also: I had to teach myself photoshop when I started the position in Tennessee. Woof. Talk about a challenge at first, but, looking back, that was the most beneficial thing I've ever done for my career. 
My favorite part about my job though is the opportunity to travel. I'm new to the boating industry, so each trip I go on, I learn more and more about not only our motors, but the industry as a whole. Apparently, boating is not all Pontoons and Fourth of July fireworks! Who knew? Oh, and the scenery on the trips ain't too shabby either! 
So today I thought I'd talk about some of the places I've gotten to visit for work in the past year and a half! 

But that food though....

 

It was cold, and I discovered my tennis shoes were designed with holes in the bottom for ventilation, and by ventilation I mean frostbite. But all frostbite aside, I love love love this city. Maybe it is because my Grandmother is Canadian, aye?

Whoa buddy. Glad that college education of yours was totally paid for. Money well spent by the University of Miami. 

 

My mama always taught me, "When you can't say anything nice about someone, don't say anything at all!" 

 

This place looked like freshwater straight out of a movie. Stunning, way beyond words amazing.  Good thing where we're going, we don't need words! Just pictures! (Oh, and I was attacked by an alligator, see that moss he attacked me with?) 

 

Sunrises and sunsets that would melt your heart. And I got a coconut head so that was cool.   

 

 I'm sure y'all remember that water though...
