Nothing Is Going My Way

What do you get when you write a blog post about how everything is going your way? You get the exact opposite the following week and the universe laughs at your stupidity and then gives you a wedgie and calls you names.

1:: Vols lost, Cowboys lost, and I had to change my fantasy team name to, "Not Very Romosexual."

2:: On the bright side, I ended up winning my second game of the season in fantasy, the NFC East is horrific so a cowboys loss isn't earth shattering, and the Vols just need two more wins to be bowl eligible. Please, just two more boys, two measly wins.

3:: Speaking of bright side, question for my Vols girls.... how bout that Dobbs?? Exciting right? Why the heck haven't we been playing him this whole time? Because the plan for him was to be redshirted? Sheesh, we need him NOW. Forget about worthless Worley, Dobbs for president!

4:: This weekend I checked out a new restaurant in Uptown called The Rustic. Pat Green is a partner in the company, it serves foods made from only local ingredients, has 40 Texas beers on tap and is a live music venue. Well, the food just really wasn't for me. I'm a simple girl, with simple tastes. This place only had weird stuff one the menu. For instance, what is a calf fry?  The description on the menu said, "If you have to ask..." So naturally, I didn't want to look like an a-hole and ask them what the heck this thing was I was eating. Sorry Texans, I'm new here.

5:: If you haven't downloaded the OS X Mavericks yet, DON'T! My computer is slow as molasses. Not only did it take two days to download, but now my whole operating system is moving slower than the Cowboy's pass defense.

6:: Come follow me on Poshmark. #shamelessplug

That's it for me today. How was your weekend? Did your teams do better than mine?

  2. 1. Dobbs killed it on Saturday! I was so surprised to find out we had actually had someone with skill... oonnn the bench. But I have to say, I'm actually a little sad that he CAN'T be redshirted now. It's so late in the season, and we could have used an extra year with him!

    2. Good to know about OS X Mavericks. My work computer was asking me to update this morning, and I couldn't commit. :P

  3. Mavericks made my computer FASTER. It only took like 30 min to download and install and my startup/login time was cut down drastically. Everything seems to be running great for me. Sucks it made yours slower. :( Boo!

  4. Funny story.. when I moved to Oklahoma there was a concert in Stillwater every year called "Calf Fry" and I was like that's weird why do they call it that? Then I went and people were eating fried things and I was like "Oh maybe those are fried pickles?" Spoiler alert: NOT FRIED PICKLES.

  5. Oh man, calf fries! In Oregon they call them rocky mountain oysters, and my nana almost had me with one. I'm glad I stayed away after finding out what they are. Also, deviled eggs in a restaurant? That's new to me.

  6. LOVE that coaster! And I'm keeping my fingers crossed for the two Vols wins!

  7. I can't complain the Pats ended up pulling out a win, and the Red Sox .... Let me stop while I'm ahead before I jynx it

  9. I don't know what calf fry is either and I don't want to know. You look cute in your little Dallas tee though :-)

  10. Omg!!!! Did you eat them?? All I can think of is Chevy Chase in Funny Farm eating "lamb fries" before he finds out what they are!

  11. I'm such a "girl" when it comes to football. (Sorry.. it's the truth!) I'm wicked cool when it comes to hockey and baseball. But, with football I might as well be wearing a glittery pink top and freshly manicured nails, my platinum blonde hair would be up in pig tails and I'd be wearing a really dumb look on my face. Having said that.. lol.. yesterday my husband told me who his fav. football team is now. (I forget who he said..) I declared right then and there, that my fav football team is Dallas. The only reason why I chose Dallas is because my Uncle used to work in Dallas all of the time. And my step dad had a really nice button up shirt with a Dallas Cowboys logo on the breast.. So yup, Dallas is "my" team. It was either Dallas or Miami. Miami Dolphins because their dolphin went missing on Ace Ventura.... See how brutal I am!?
Sorry for your shitty week girl! I'm sure it'll turn around! Mondays are the worst, once today is behind you- all will be well. Maybe even a Pinterest DIY will go your way!!??

  12. I will have to check that place out for sure!!! And that coaster is great.

  13. First the Dodgers sucked and now the Cowboys are losing...WHAT IS HAPPENING WITH SPORTS.

  14. You've probably figured it out by now.....but calf fries aka rocky mountain oysters are fried bull testicles. WELCOME TO TEXAS!

    ReplyDelete
  15. please tell me you at least stole the coaster to make up for your craptastic week?

  16. The Rustic sounds cool. We have a similar-ish sounding place where I live and we LOVE it! So unique!

  17. Calf fry what??? Eww. That coaster is amazing!! Sorry for your teams. The Pats and Ohio State pulled out a win for me, but the Red Sox are giving me a heart attack!!

  18. I have no idea what a calf fry is either. I loved that coaster though!

  19. I feel your pain. Why do we pull for the vols and the cowboys again? I need a reminder...considering it takes them less than two minutes, as in the LAST two minutes, to make me drop my head in shame.

    ReplyDelete
  20. But I mean.......ROLL TIDE! <3 && Sorry I am an AJ McCarron fanatic. AJ>>>Dobbs all day, errrryday! I take sports way more serious, than the most serious football fanatic man, it's a bit ridiculous. I took a nap thru the 2nd & 3rd quarter because it was boring, I expected more of game after all the big talk Vols did last week- and Saban couldn't see me (leave the game) so I figured it was ok. :)

  21. Aww, chin up buttercup... hope this week gets better for you!

  22. This rotating quarterback game the Vols have to play is annoying. I want my QB and I want to stick with him and root for him! Dobbs definitely has my vote, he's gotta be more consistent than Worley. Plus, he's like a aerospace engineering major or something like that. Smart fella.

    ReplyDelete
  23. Now that I know what you actually ate, I feel so awful for you.. Ew. Also, not a Vols fan (eek, don't hate me) but I even I like Dobbs!

    ReplyDelete
  24. Second time today I have read about The Rustic..it's a sign I need to come to Texas and eat there.

    ReplyDelete
  25. So, um... Are you still puking, or what? Because now that I know what those fried things are, my hungover ass is headed straight to the john.

    ReplyDelete
  26. OK, glad I didn't download Mavericks. Thanks for the warning! My computer is already slow as molasses.

  27. I just went to the The Rustic on Friday night. Definitely not adventurous enough to try the calf fries though! Took the safe route and went with the Cactus Fritters. You need to try their burger though... best I've ever had and I'm a certified food snob.

  28. In Nebraska we call them Rocky Mountain Oysters. I've seen calf, lamb, pork and turkey!! :) So sorry your teams lost. :(

    ReplyDelete
  29. I wouldn't have known what calf fries are either; I've only heard them called rocky mountain oysters. Hey, you can think of it as giving you Anthony Bourdain style street cred, right?

    ReplyDelete
  30. Why yes, my team DID do better than yours.

(I'm getting my taunts in when I can)

    ReplyDelete
  31. so...what's a calf fry? my team didn't lose!...but that's only because we had a bye. haha.

  32. There is a good chance I will be moving to the Houston area next summer, I will continuously follow all new Texan things you encounter to make sure I am prepared!

  33. Say What!? How have I NEVER heard of Poshmark!? I have a feeling this site is going to consume my entire night!

  34. Love that you have simple tastes. I'm right there with ya. If there's a word I don't know, I don't order it. Looks pretty though! #ohtexans

  36. My worst fear is to go to a restaurant and know nothing on the menu. #nobueno It also doesn't help that I have the appetite and taste buds of a 8 year old. Ooopps...

  37. Ugh, I hate restaurants with weird food. Just tell me what the eff it is. However a place with 40 different local beers on tap is something I can get on board with...

    ReplyDelete
  38. Did you google calf fries? I'm an okie born and bred (And I live on a sheep farm turned cattle ranch and we eat our own steak, etc) so I've eaten my fair share of calf fries (though not from our own cattle, thankfully..l only at Cattlem's restaurant). They're surprisingly good, though not something I would eat regularly. Once year or so is my limit.

  39. That coaster is beyond awesome! I hope you slipped it in your purse to take it home with you. ;)

  40. The Cowboys loss was SUCH a whoopin' this weekend. To make it even worse, our Verizon service cut out ONLY ON FOX during the last 8 minutes of game time. I was pretty livid to miss it. I was refreshing ESPN on my phone like a mad woman. Ugh. But on a positive note, I'm completely obsessed with your tee! I've never seen one like it before.

  41. #1 My FF team won for the second time this week as well!! It was a great week to win too, I kicked my bff's butt. And was the highest scoring team for the week. I'm pretty damn proud. Now here's to keeping it up the rest of the year.

#2 Why didn't you google that sh*t?! Props to trying it though!!

#3 My Packers won and the Badgers are amazing. What can I say? ;) Football season is looking good 'round here.
