Everything's Going My Way!

Can I get an A-freaking-men for football this weekend? I mean really. For a girl who normally roots for teams that are excellent at losing, I'd like to just stop right now and say, everything just seemed to go my way this weekend....

First thing to go my way...
I'm still alive. More about this later in the week.

Second thing to go my way...
My Vols had their first win against a ranked team, ending their 19 game losing streak against ranked opponents. If you are not familiar with THE University of Tennessee, we are formally known as a football powerhouse with SIX national titles and 16 conference titles. To say we've had some bad luck, and been dealt some bad cards over the past decade is a bit of an understatement. But this weekend we beat #11 South Carolina and boy did it feel damn good.

Third thing to go my way...
Cowboys win! I'd be more excited about this game if it wasn't the most boring game I've seen in a very long time. It was supposed to me a shootout, instead it was like watching paint dry the entire first half. I'll take a NFC East win all day long though!

Fourth thing to go my way...
So my buddy Whitney hooked me up with a new camera lens she promised would help my sad photography attempts. It arrived on friday afternoon, and boy was she right. I walked to the Dallas Farmer's Market early Sunday morning to test out the new lens. What do you think??

I realize I'm just photographing beautiful flowers on a beautiful day, but hey, I see this as one giant win for my photography skills! Hope everyone had a fabulous weekend!

  12. I can't wait to see what you did at the track!!! I was so happy for the Vols on Saturday and totally agree that the Cowboys/Eagles game was a snooze fest. We were rooting for opposing teams, though!!! Awesome pics with the new lens as well! :)

  15. Your pictures look beautiful! My favorite is the one of all the pumpkins :) What type of lens was it??

  16. I would just like to say that I don't think I've ever found a farmer's market in AZ that looks as pretty as that. PLUS your pictures look even more fabulous! Also, I'm happy to hear I'm not the only one that's stuck with their team(s) through years of terrible-ness. My Sundevils are doing pretty well this season so far, but beyond that, it's rough out here in AZ

  21. great shots with the new lens and yay for a Vols win! Although I must admit I am a little angry with ole Smokey right now since he beat my mascot, PeeDee the Pirate in the Capitol One Bowl Mascot Challenge last week (who was undefeated before that).

  24. While I am happy about Tenessee. I proudly wore my Orange Tenessee hoodie around Lexington this weekend. Because I love nothing more than annoying UK fans. I can't say I was too happy about the Broncos loss. I am still in mourning.

Will you be making the trip for the Tennessee/Bama game? I'll be there! It should be a good game!

  26. Awesome job this weekend, Vols! It was a great weekend for college football in general; I'm a big fan of the upset! Although, if you upset my Tigers in two weeks, I don't know if I can read your blog the next week.... Don't want that being rubbed in my face. ;)

  27. You look like a total pro in that Nascar photo! Can’t wait to hear about it! And yay for football! Chargers won that that’s a good thing in my book. I went to brunch with Kayyy and we weren’t planning on seeing the game, but the tv’s drew us in. Blah. Good thing we had good results…this week. And last but not least…yayyyy for camera work and figuring it out :]

  28. Beautiful pictures!!! I love my DSLR camera but am SOOOOO lazy with carrying it around and actually taking pictures with it. Do you feel like as big of a dweeb as I do using it in public (or even with a group of friends?)

  29. Those captions are killing me!
It's really all about the lenses.
    What lens is that?!

  30. It's like the Eagles waited til the 3rd quarter to even realize they were playing football. But Jarrod was super happy the Cowboys won. He'll take a boring win over an exciting loss.
    What lens are you using?//

  31. I think that lens has turned you into a photography pro! What kind is it? I want one.

    ReplyDelete
  32. Haha, I guess the lens does make a difference. The farmers' market pics look great! Congrats on your teams winning. USC lost to ND (booo!) the Dodgers are out of the world series (booo) BUT the Jets beat the Patriots, so there's that.

  33. Your pictures look excellent! What kind of lens is it?

    Thanks!

  37. Those pictures are bomb and congrats to your Cowboys. I am just glad one team decided to play in that game.

  38. It always amazes me how people do the blurry/focus thing. I love that effect. Do you HAVE to use a special lens to do it?

    ReplyDelete
  39. Umm...I really want to know about this race car thing. Also, my boyfriend is a huge Tennessee fan and he was ecstatic on Saturday. Finally, my camera won't let me do the blurry thing that I so desperately want to do. I need to buy a new one and soon. Too bad I'm poor.

  40. LOVE the pics! What kind of lens did you get? I'm struggling with my dslr as well.
