That Don't Play Here

 Shirt Can Be Found HERE

Since we are a depressing 4 months removed from college football, and another 4 months until the drought ends, I thought I would use today as an important reminder of how worth it it is to patiently sit and wait for game day. As you know, I graduated from the best university in the world, The University of Tennessee. No really, factually, it is the best university in the history of ever. I read that on the internet and you can't put anything on the internet that isn't true.

I have an insane amount of pride for my school, and it is only intensified by living so far away from it. My poor boyfriend has to put up with me stopping to scream, "GO BIG ORANGE" to any stranger that is wearing Tennessee paraphernalia.

We were at the amusement park in Missouri when I spotted a young man wearing a Tennessee Football shirt and I darted over to him as fast as I could to scream "GO VOLS!!" Actually, the way real Vols fans pronounce it is more like "GO VAAAAWWWLLS!" I think I scared the crap out of him, but he managed to still muster up a, "yeah!" back at me.

Anytime I see a car with a Tennessee sticker on it, I honk and wave like a 13 year old girl who just spotted Taylor Swift in the car next to them. I will scream, "T T T T" even when I'm in the car by myself. Spotting a Tennessee Power T on someone's car in Dallas is comparable to the excitement I felt as a kid on Christmas morning. Am I a little crazy? Yeahhhh.... actually no I'm not. This is totally normal super fan behavior, IMO.

My point here? I love Tennessee. So when I saw this video I knew I had to dedicate a Fan Friday post to it.

And do me a favor this week, will you guys? Please, if you see a Tennessee Power T, just scream T T T in your car for me? That isn't too much to ask right?

GO BIG ORANGE!

  1. Bahaha! Someone at work already showed me that video this morning. There's not much to add to that except a Roll Tide.

  3. I do ALL OF THESE THINGS in Charlottesville! The other day, I saw a man working at the place I was buying lunch wearing a Tennessee t-shirt. I pushed to through the crowd, cornered him, and asked if he went to Tennessee. Turns out his daughter is there now and now he and I are BFFs. Because that's how us Tennessee people do things. And factually, it IS the best university in the entire universe. If for no other reason than the fact that two people named Sarah who went there said so.

  6. Can I just say that this is possible my favorite video of all times? And that my Tennessee loving husband and I constantly bicker over which team, Bama or that other team, our unborn child will root for. As any SEC fan knows, it's a big decision to place on your child.

  10. I forgot about college football. I better step it up since I decided last year to be a fan. Oops.

  11. Haha this is great. I'm so conflicted though! I refuse to be an Alabama football fan despite my husband working in their athletic department, but I will root on their softball team because he works closely with them. Our baby is going to be one confused kid though because she will probably have some houndstooth clothes for her daddy and some orange and white for her momma come football season.

  12. That video is so great. My dad is the Ultimate Tennessee fan all the way in Toledo, Ohio. He has a T on his cars, a flag on the house, and wears orange so much my kids have lovingly nicknamed him Papa Orange. He just got season tickets this year and plan on making the 7 hour roadtrip whenever he can to cheer on the Big Orange. Go VOLS!

  14. A Big 12 version of that shirt could say, "Play Boomer Sooner one more time." Ha ha ha.

I love wearing my team stuff in random places. I mean, you can probably guess how much Texas Rangers stuff I see here in Iowa.

  17. This just freaks me out because my fiance is the same way with Tennessee. I can seriously hear the southern twang of the "GO VOLS" right now.

  18. I have watched that video SO MANY TIMES already. Can't help but to laugh!

A few years ago, I was in New Mexico and happened to be wearing a shirt that just said "Tennessee Football" on it. While doing some sightseeing, some guy walked by me, pointed at my shirt, and just started boo-ing at me.It was ridiculous!
