Two Games? Two Games??!

As I'm sure you've seen (or heard about, but chose not to watch) TMZ sports released the elevator video of Ray Rice laying a disturbing punch on his then fiancee, now wife Janay Palmer.

Just to warn you before you click that little play button, this video is sad and graphic.

Just a little back story here....

Three things I think are important to know before watching this new video footage released today...

Thing one: the police report claimed it was a mutual attack.

Thing two: In the original video, shown below, we did not actually see Ray Rice lay a punch on his fiancee. But we did see him drag her unconscious body out of the elevator.

Thing three: the NFL claims they DID NOT see this video when they made the decision to only suspend this pig for 2 games. This raises the obvious question, if TMZ can get the video, you mean to tell me the NFL can't?

What a pig. What a disgusting pig. Aside from the obvious punch, he shows no remorse. He hardly makes any attempt to get her out of the elevator. In fact, in his first attempt to move her, it appears that he picks her up and drops her inside the elevator. The cops clearly had access to this video, NFL aside, why is he not in jail? This attack wasn't even remotely mutual, it was brutal.

This gets two games? A two game suspension? Two. As in the number after one.
I mean, this was the tweet the Ravens released back in May. What in the hell, man?!

Disgusting. You made a mistake in the original suspension. We all make mistakes. Luckily for you, this mistake can be fixed and now properly handled.

Do something about this NFL. Do something about this Baltimore. Now.

  1. This video literally had my blood BOILING this morning! He punched her so hard that he could have killed her and for him to just drag her body out was disgusting! I can't believe that THIS is the only punishment he is getting..it seriously breaks my heart.

  2. This is so disgusting! He is a complete pig and needs to be locked up! Its clear that he knocked her out and needs to be suspended for more than that. Domestic violence is nothing to play with. If he did this once he will do it again, statistics prove this.

  3. At least he didn't smoke pot. Don't guys who get caught with pot get like 10 games or something? And isn't pot legal places? <--- that's sarcasm.

Maybe woman beating is legal places too? Oh wait it's not. And it's disgusting. Any type of abuser is filthy.

  4. Whereas Josh Gordon is suspended for a year for smoking weed. Makes sense, right?

  5. I don't even want to watch the video...it makes me sick that someone can be seen on video punching a woman and he gets a two game suspension. Seriously?? it's ridiculous. Especially with all the much longer suspensions for players who smoke pot. Completely ridiculous.

And I don't care that the NFL says they didn't see the video before....they have now and they should do something about it.

  6. So many angry thoughts going around in my head, I can't even comprehend. When I think "mutual" I don't always think of dragging around a limp body being the outcome of a "mutual" attack. Even if they HADN'T seen the second video, they should have had enough common sense to know that..

  7. Totally agree with you. it's sick and disturbing and two games is almost laughable. the problem is with the whole lot of "celebrity"; they get off so easy on so many situations. I know I don't know a lot about football but I know this is wrong.

    1. Just like Chris Brown got off, easy peasy. This makes me so angry!

  8. I saw this and it disgusted me. The NFL is such bs sometimes when it comes down to suspensions and punishments. Once a beater, always a beater, just saying..

  9. Seriously. If TMZ could get this, how did the NFL think this wouldn't come out? This reminds me of Chris Brown as well. He was physically abusive....and yet we all still listen to his music and buy his songs and let him keep going about life. Same thing with this NFL player....a 2 game smack on the hand? Unacceptable. How can we expect everyday American men to take this issue seriously and realize it's wrong, when this is the way we handle it in the media?

  10. I couldn't watch more than a few seconds of the video when I tried earlier. But I saw enough to know he should be tossed out of the NFL and into a jail cell, now. It's disgusting, despicable, exceptionally illegal, and an absolutely grotesque example for Rice, the Ravens, the NFL and the police to be setting for football fans and children who idolize athletes and people at large. A man without Rice's job title and salary who behaved the same way would be thrown in jail—why isn't he?

This is an absolute disgrace and I agree with you, the powers-that-be need to fix their mistake immediately and take appropriate action here. Thanks for posting.

  11. I just saw this video this morning. Absolutely disgusting! If I was her I would wait until he fell asleep and return the favor....with a baseball bat! I can't believe they only suspended him for 2 games. I can't even explain into words how angry that makes me at the NFL....horrible

  12. Seth Rogen tweeted it best. That he can beat the crap out of a person and get a 2 game suspension, but if he smoked pot he would be suspended for longer

    ReplyDelete
  13. I actually have not watched the video. Reading about it alone is disgusting.

  14. This is so disgusting. How can someone get banned from a sport for racial comments but beating a woman, an actual human being gets a 2 game suspension??? This is so wrong and very disappointing on the part of the NFL.

  15. I have watched the full video several times. Before they get on the elevator, the woman appears to slap him in the face. Once they are on the elevator, it appears that she elbows him in the face. This is why the police are calling it a mutual domestic violence case. Am I defending his disgusting actions? Absolutely not. I think his reaction after she is knocked unconscious is disturbing as well. I believe that everyone, male and female, should keep their hands to themselves. Someone above mentioned Josh Gordon: this was not the first time he has failed a drug test. In 2013 he was suspended 2 games for testing positive for codeine. He was also arrested in July for driving under the influence. I would think those contributed to the decision regarding his one year suspension.

  16. What kills me is that this is the example we're setting for our children. This is the type of person that they are taught to model themselves after and look up to. THIS. It makes me sick. I hope all parents are smart enough to teach their sons that things like this are NEVER acceptable, EVER, in NO SITUATION. and smart enough to teach their daughters that they don't deserve to be treated that way, that there is no action that they could have done to deserve that. Domestic violence is not okay regardless of it's husband on wife, wife on husband, husband on husband or wife on wife. NONE OF THIS IS OKAY.

  17. & WHY would she then marry the asshole?

& yes, the NFL definitely needs to address this more then just a 2 game suspension!

    ReplyDelete
  18. Saw it this morning. It's brutal. What a thug.
How old is this video?? They're MARRIED now?1

  19. Wow didn't know the Ravens tweeted that.. what the hell?

    He's a pig.

Also, she's a moron for staying with him.

    ReplyDelete
  20. UGH.

I have so many thoughts. First of all, that was not effing mutual. Why did she marry him? People who do that do it again. It is never a one time thing.

    ReplyDelete
  21. I think John Harbaugh needs to follow his younger brother's example with a zero tolerance policy in regards to domestic abuse. I don't think you should get a pass.

but the Ravens also built a statue of another Ray who basically got away with murder....

    1. I know, right!! I think there should be a policy set. The NFL is a business. There needs to be standards league wide for things like this. But I dont' have high standards for the Ravens.

    2. I'm a Ravens fan which is why this comment irked me so much, but Ray Lewis did not "basically get away with murder."

      http://www.cbsnews.com/news/commentary-five-misconceptions-about-ray-lewis-murder-trial/

Definitely not involved with the classiest people, but also not a murderer.

I think it's pretty irrelevant to Ray Rice's situation (which I think is sad, and his actions disgusting) but since you brought it up...

  22. Like I said on Twitter, I hope that the NFL figures it out and actually properly disciplines him. He needs to be suspended forever. That's what I think. Who the hell thinks it's OK to punch someone? Who thinks it's OK to punch someone so that they smash their face into the elevator bar? Who thinks it's OK to drag her body out of the elevator and just leave her there (I think he totally would have left her if people weren't walking by). It's just sick and awful!

And I can't believe that she married him! Holy crap!

    ReplyDelete
  23. He's gone! The Ravens just annouced that they have terminated him! Well done B-more!

    ReplyDelete
  24. Seriously. A two-game suspension is a joke. If the NFL wants to be taken seriously and not considered a thug league, they need to start handing out real punishments.

    ReplyDelete
  25. Huffington Post just said he got cut....Karma, hopefully.

  26. I absolutely hate that she apologized, I hate it and it breaks my heart. There are a lot more people paying attention than she realizes. Little (and big!) girls that are in a similar situation and looking for any sort of guidance. Beyond how royally the NFL ducked this up, whoever told her it was a good idea to apologize is a part of the problem.

  27. I can't even watch the video.. it just bothers me too much.. Every one has role that they play but oh my goodness... I cannot even..

  28. The fact that it took the NFL so long to make a fine/punishment/whatever the correct term is for these situations boils my blood. A player says something unprofessional and gets a hefty fine, but someone BEATS their spouse and basically gets a slap on the wrist. I did see that the Ravens have suspended Rice indefinitely and I say that it's about time! Too bad the NFL didn't step up and do it first!

    ReplyDelete
  29. Not trying to make light of the situation but...

Just like Victoria's Secret coming out with attractive NFL collection after your posts...while I'm reading this I get a CNN update that he's been cut by the Ravens and suspended indefinitely by the NFL commissioner.

    Coincidence?

(Also yay for the ruling but it's shit that it happened at all in the first place)

    ReplyDelete
  30. There are so many moving parts to this story. I understand that you should never hit a women, but why did she hit him. (AGAIN not saying he should have hit her back but I think it's relevant to the story.) I don't understand how it happened in february and we are just now talking about it.

I know that we all want answers now but the justice system has to do it's work. The NFL can do a lot of things, but I think they want to do it right the first time.

I don't justify anything on either side, but I think we don't know the whole situation.

    ReplyDelete
  31. The good news is that he has now been suspended indefinitely and the Ravens have cut him. I'm curious to see if any team is going to touch him or if his NFL career is over. I hope a team doesn't pick him up as it would set a poor example for the NFL and to the fans. I personally think he is done.

    ReplyDelete
  32. Is there anything more than WTF that responds to this, finally it appears the right is happening but wow...maybe now certain types will realize this is not acceptable

    ReplyDelete
  33. So disgusted!!! Thankfully he has been cut. What a fucking (sorry had to use it) loser.

    ReplyDelete
  34. All that and she STILL married him!! What the eff word?! Both of them are screwed up. He got his preseason taken away from him and 2 regular season games because apparently the NFL's policy on domestic assault is a 6 game suspension on the first offense and terminated from the NFL on the 2nd offense. Yet he's only been suspended indefinitely; meaning another team could potentially pick him up if his suspension is dropped. Good riddance, rice!

  35. This is so disgusting. Im so glad that they got rid of him. He deserves much worse!

  36. I know I mentioned this yesterday on Twitter to you, but aside from all this what is really infuriating is how much NFL players think they can get away with and what they actually get away with. I know it's old news, but the whole Michael Vick thing? Or Aaron Hernadez literally thinking he was the "godfather" since he was an NFL player and trying to get away with murder? Or Chad Ochocinco (or whatever his name is) beating the crap out his wife? The NFL really needs to look at the actions of all their players and then question why these a-holes think they can do it in the first place. It stems back to the fact that, for the most part, all they ever really get is a little slap on the wrist. Now is the time for the NFL to put their foot down and start setting better precedence than what they have.

    ReplyDelete
  37. I cannot even watch the video because I've heard how awful it is. I can't watch him hit his wife, it's too disturbing to me. I'm glad that they gave him a lifetime ban finally, & am shocked that he isn't in jail for this!

  38. I agree. Pig. He showed no compassion or guilt. Disgusting. I am SO glad they have given him his proper punishment (in regards to the NFL). I totally think they dropped the ball in regards to not jailing him. Damn double jeopardy. Sick, sick, sick.

I just PRAY that he didn't go home last night and beat his wife for 'causing' him to lose his job. You know those types. They will blame it on the woman and she'll take her punishment. UGH. Sick. I can't believe she stayed with him.

    Alright. Rant over.

  39. I was so happy this morning to hear that not only has the NFL banned him the CFL has imposed the same restrictions on all its teams no team is to sign him as a free agent. Finally justice although delayed.

  40. Really men do not hit women, and men like this are a waste of space

    ReplyDelete
  41. It makes me sad to see men abuse women either emotionally or physically and unfortunately sometimes they are part of a cycle of their own upbringing and it's time they break the cycle. As far as the NFL, it is a joke how they basically give him a slap on the wrist when he should really be jailed. The abused women are brainwashed thinking that's how the man shows them love and they in turn want to protect the man, so they don't help themselves either. So sad.

  42. The league is so f-ed up. I don't believe for a second that they didn't know about this, that they didn't have access to the video. This is what pro sports have come to? Keeping guys on teams because winning is so important? I really think that's what it was. It's disgusting.

    ReplyDelete
  43. I don't really know a lot about sports but two games doesn't seem like a lot. And any man who hits a woman is a disgusting pig who should be absolutely punished.
