Park It

I feel like I lived about a thousand weekends this weekend. We worked hard, but played hard too! I spent the majority of the weekend in Arlington helping CB get his house ready to put on the market. I'm not sure what the housing market is like in your neck of the woods, but it is absolutely a seller's market here in the metroplex. I have several friends that have been house hunting for weeks, including making offers in double digits over the asking price, and not getting the house. That has got to be insanely frustrating.

After work on Friday, we had plans to go to Top Golf for a friend's birthday. Top Golf is in Dallas, so I had about an hour to kill in Deep Ellum before CB picked me up on his way in from Arlington. I've spent practically the past month in Arlington, so I was excited to have some time in my favorite little neighborhood. This was great timing, because there was a weekend long pop-up park I got to explore!

The pop up park was interesting, to say the least. Actually, I'm not going to sugarcoat it, it was a little odd. The unique concept was there, and in theory it was a great idea, but in execution? Meh, I dunno. Perhaps it was the fact that I was there on Friday around 6pm, but it was just a sprinkling of people sitting around staring at a random guy on stilts, and someone juggling off to the side. I'm sill not clear if the guy was hired to juggle or if he just is a bystander enjoying a nice Friday evening juggling session.

Relieved that I wasn't missing an evening of experiencing the coolest thing to ever come to Deep Ellum, I hopped in with CB and we headed for Top Golf.

We spent all day Saturday working on CB's house (by that I mean, I watched 14 episodes in a row of Beachfront Bargain Hunt while CB worked on his house), before driving out to his brother's house to watch the fight on Saturday night.

After working up a sweat Sunday afternoon on the house (for real I helped this time), we called it quits just in time to book it back to Dallas and make it to Fair Park by 5pm. The Cotton Bowl was transformed into a gigantic off-the-leash dog park for the afternoon. If all dogs go to heaven,  I would imagine this is where they go.

My kiddos were treated like royalty, given bandanas and were hand fed more treats than they've had all year long. Veenie likes to dig and ballistically splash in her water bowl, so we tried to encourage her to get in the doggie pool. That was about as worthwhile as spending $100 to watch the fight on Saturday night.

All I can imagine going through her mind was, "Um, no."

We of course pawsed for a family pawtrait too.

Later that night, when the dogs could barely hold their eyes open, we scooted off for dinner at a new spot in Deep Ellum called Luscher's Red Hots. I'll just leave these here....

Spoiler Alert: We did not lose any weight during this meal.

And alas, now we wait for Friday...

  6. The pop looks fun, but kinda weird. I love that you had no idea what the juggler was supposed to be doing, that is the best! I now need ice cream and it is only 10:45 am...

  7. From what I can tell, everyone in the blogosphere had a great weekend--myself included! Was that chocolate concoction ice cream or a chocolate covered rice krispie treat on a stick? Either way, it looks delicious, and I need one now! :)

  12. That looks like such a fun weekend! The pop up park is an interesting concept. Too bad the carry through wasn't quite up to snuff.

  13. Wow, that popup thing looks interesting. Every time you post about your little neighborhood, I want to come visit. Being A jack mom, what I do with the baby pool is put those little plastic ball pit balls in there. Bullet will chase and attack those things for hours.

  14. I was thinking the same thing about the pop-up park and laughed when you actually wrote what you were thinking. It looked a little odd...what park has tons of pallets everywhere? Anywho, great looking weekend! Gotta love the good, busy weekends! That ice cream looks like a foodgasm! xoxo, ganeeban

  15. What a fun weekend! Admittedly I thought that pop up park thing was a great concept and theory, but in practice it seemed a little off... In any case, that off leash dog park/romping area sounds AMAZING! Can Judy come next time? ;)
