Houston Jump On It

Alright kids, we've got our Super Bowl 2014 teams set! And not to brag or anything, but  I totally called them during Erin's interview.

Just like last year, I will be bringing you tons of super bowl info, and of course a drinking game, because what Super Bowl would be complete without a drinking game??

Speaking of drinking, this ole 27 year old body of mine can't take day drinking anymore. On Saturday I packed the car up with Fireball and drove to see two of my college girlfriends in Houston!

On the way there, I made a pit stop at my new favorite gas station Buc-ees. Growing up in Virginia, you have a tendency to form unusual bonds with gas stations. Sheetz is the greatest gas station on earth, with the best food ever, well, that is until I met Buc-ees this weekend and found these sweet T-shirts.

After taking that Howdy T-shirt with me when I left, I headed to finish my drive to Houston. When I got there I was promptly met at 1:30pm with bottomless Mimosas and we kicked off the party!

Silly me, I kinda thought we would spend the day shopping or sight seeing. I'm not used to the day drinking unless tailgating is involved. But alas, sans tailgate, we went elbows up. I even whipped out the party favors before the sunset, it was 5 o'clock somewhere!

What I love most about Houston is that it appeared everyone else in the city was elbows up at 2 in the afternoon as well! All of the bars were full and the patios at maximum capacity with the beautiful 70 degree weather they were having!

We tried to go to a Rockets game that night, but we didn't have tickets and knew we would need to visit the ticket office to get them. If there is one thing in this world I know, it's ticket prices. You can easily get Mavs tickets for $20, so when the box office wanted $60 for upper deck, we turned the scalpers.

My booze fueled confidence with the scalpers, who wanted $50 per ticket, forced me to lose my cool. I actually got him down to $30 a ticket, but still then, in my mind, that wasn't a good enough deal. So, I stormed off from the guy, and I basically made the decision for the group that we were not going. In retrospect, $30 would have been fine. So I want to apologize to Mr. Scalper for being rude. It was the booze talking, not me. But really, you could've gone to $20 and sold the 5 tickets to us.

And then as I'm sure you guessed, the pictures pretty much went downhill from there. My camera roll looked like this the rest of the night....

All in all, it was the perfect weekend! I just wish we had gotten to see the Rockets play....

  8. Ughhh I hear ya on the day drinking... that was on the agenda all day on Saturday and I had a fabulous time. Sunday morning was a different story... I barely made it to brunch with friends and spent the rest of the day on the couch. I know I'm getting old, but I still wanna play all day :)

  10. "Have a Willie nice day" bahahaha I would have bought that.

As much as I dislike the Seahawks I'm glad they're in the Super Bowl with the broncos. Nothing is worse than a boring Super Bowl game.

  11. If you're super classy (like me) you'll read the title of this post super fast and combine Houston & Jump and think you actually just typed 'Hump On It' for the title of your Monday morning post...

  15. I'll be happy to see the Seahawks lose. BUT I sort of like that yall shirt with the boots. granted I've lived in the south for a grand total of 3 months, so I probably shouldn't wear something like that hahaha

  20. Love that top on you. Day drinking is no longer my friend. I would be passed out by 6pm. Haha!

  21. day drinking is just so hard. i like that you stood up for the principle of $30 i mean $10 is still $10, at least that's what drunk me would have thought too.

  22. Day drinking sounds so good in theory, but it's just never quite as good in real life. And really, the scalper couldn't just settle on 20? Lame.

  23. Ooh you were in my city!!! Or at least, one of them. And one of my favorite high school memories was going to a Rockets game with my DECA team and getting picked to go high five the team... Yao Ming's hand was as big as a personal pizza, man.

  24. I called the Broncos and Seahawks too, we're just that good. and I love that "y'all" shirt!

  25. Glad to know i'm not the only Virginia girl who has formed an unusual bond with a gas station, namely Sheetz!

  26. Somehow despite the big Orange UT on your sidebar it wasn't until I was browsing through your old posts that I put 2 and 2 together and realized you went there for college haha. I'm an idiot sometimes, but I also went to UT and my family is still in Knox so I'm there all the time I love it! Second, bring on the drinking game! I love that you love sports just as much as I do!

  28. That's usually how my camera roll appears after a night of fun....it always amazes me I can get random strangers to take pictures at the end of the night :-)

  29. Oh wow, it looks like you guys an awesome time. Talk about a difference in temperature from Toronto.. !! My dad would pick us up for weekends and we always stopped at this one gas station on the way to his house. (he lived about 2 plus hours away.) It wasn't anything special but I always want to stop at it when I go back home and am nearby!
Day drinking, I don't know how well I would do either! Oh and I wanted to mention... that you look really good. That 12 pounds you lost is showing in your face and arms!! :) You're looking good my friend.
Oh and for the record- My husband is going for Denver because he feels like Peyton got screwed a couple of years ago. He said that he's almost forty and killing it this year. There, i gave you a little football chat too. !! :)

  30. If the Super Bowl is as good as yesterday's SF/SEA game I will be soooo happy!!! I don't even care who wins I just want a good game to enjoy before it all ends.

  31. Living in TX/CA is always nice in the winter! 70 degrees in January is my kinda weather!
I was not happy when the Niners lost yesterday. 3 interceptions? really? And then of course Sherman had to be annoying about it. Just because of that, go broncos!

  34. Now that I'm not sick I should be able to participate in this drinking game. Esp. since one of my teams is in it! Go Broncos! Tell me that one of them will be to drink every time Peyton say "OMAHA!" lol.

  35. It sounds like you had QUITE a weekend little miss! I'm anxious to see this Super Bowl drinking game because this is the first time I will not be working it and I AM REALLY FREAKING SAD! So...drowning my sorrows IS A MUST!

  36. Looks like you had a lot of fun! Can't wait to see what you come up with for the Super Bowl this year because my team's playing!!!!! :DDDDD I don't think that emoticon is actually a thing, but I'm making it one....

  37. It was so hard to watch the game last night. I wanted my niners to get in the super bowl again:) I definitely drank like champ and just seeing those drink pics...I have had enough to drink for while!

  39. While your choice of teams makes my tummy hurt, I appreciate the whole girly sports blogger more than you know. I am still suffering the consequences of a Patriots loss this past weekend but am excited to have stumbled across this blog just in time for the super bowl.

  40. Sheetz is the greatest invention on the planet and the fact that they only have it in select states (none of them being where I am in Alabama) is a serious travesty. I also completely felt your pain with a hangover this weekend. My body can't handle gin and tonics like it used to.

    ReplyDelete
  41. I get all warm and fuzzy when someone else acknowledges how amazing Sheetz is.

    ReplyDelete
  42. When I was in grad school in NC, my classmates from PA and VA did nothing but RAVE about Sheetz. The day I came across one near the airport in Raleigh, I remember being forever a changed girl. Sheetz are the best! I've seen a few similarly-functioning establishments, but none part of a chain as great as "the" Sheetz! :)

  43. I'm a diehard 49ers fan. I almost don't even want to watch the Super Bowl this year. Except that I want to see someone put Sherman in his place, so there's that.
