Time to Put the Champs on Ice + How To Make Football Even More Fun

You guysssss, tonight the tradition continues. It's a tradition that I recommend you adopt as your own. Every year, to welcome back the NFL, I pop a bottle (or 2 or 3 if I'm forced to share) of champagne. Tonight, we pop bottles likes we did in 2014 and 2013.

Whatever you do today, get to the grocery store or gas station or liquor store... wherever you buy your champs.... and buy a couple bottles and join me in welcoming back the greatest professional sport known to man, the NFL. Post your pic on Insta using the hashtag #gamedayvibes so I can go like it immediately.

Ok now that we've got the important stuff out of the way, I want to talk about a way you can make watching games you don't necessarily care about, more entertaining. Take tonight's game for example, other than the whole Deflategate debacle, I really don't care much about either of these teams. Here is a way you can make a game like that, way more fun to watch.

DraftKings
I'm sure you've heard of DraftKings before, but have never really looked into actually playing. Take it from me, if you like playing Fantasy Football, you'll like DraftKings. It may seem intimidating at first, but I'm here to help. If you're new to DraftKings, there are actually three different tournaments you can play in for week one, that are totally free to enter:

1. $10M Millionaire Maker
(normally costs $20)

2. Free $100,000 Fantasy Football Contest

3. $1M Play Action Tournament
(normally $3, but free when you make your first deposit)

If you only do ONE tournament, do the $10M Millionaire Maker, it's free and prizes are awarded to the top 125,700 people. Even if you come in 125,700th place, you'll win money. Pretty cool right? I entered all three, and it only took me a few minutes to fill out my rosters. Think of it just like March Madness, absolutely anyone could be the big winner.

How to Play:
Just like in Fantasy, you start the following:
 1 QB
 2 RBs
 3 WRs
 1 TE
 1 Flex
 1 Def/Special Teams

Here's where it differs from fantasy... although you can pick ANY PLAYERS YOU WANT, you have a salary cap of $50,000.
So sure, you could pick Aaron Rodgers, Jamaal Charles, DeMarco Murray and Dez Bryant... but you'll be out of money before you fill out a full roster.
For example, here is a look at one of my rosters, so you can get an idea of what different players cost.

To play in the Millionaire Maker tournament, you have until Sunday 12pmCST to enter! I'm here to walk you through it if you want to play but you're totally confused. It is a bit intimidating at first, I felt that way too. Once I signed up though, it was a total {drew}brees. Hah, football humor.
Feel free to email me or leave a comment if you have any questions, or if you need help getting started.

I'll see you tonight, popping those champagne bottles on instagram!

  1. I'm playing in a FanDuel league at work for the first time this year, and I have to admit, I'm a little nervous about how much work it's going to entail to set a new lineup every week, including my 2 Fantasy Leagues! Any suggestions for picking your roster for FanDuel?
I'm so excited that it's officially the start of the most wonderful time of the year!

  2. I set a lineup for the $10M Millionaire Maker, but it's saying entry is $20. How do you get it for free? Am I missing something?

  3. Holy crap. I knew DraftKings was giving away money, but I didn't realize there were that many prizes. Now I'd be really dumb not to enter! Thanks!

    I'm not a big fan of the Patriots or the Steelers either, but Chris LOVES the Steelers, so even though I think they're going to lose, I'll be rooting for them so that my boyfriend will be happy. {Gag!}

  5. I was just talking about this with my boyfriend last night. He is a huge football fan and thinks it will help me not roll my eyes at him when he talks about it.

  7. Wait.. I LOVE this tradition! I might not have time to run to the store before my Steelers kick off at 5:30 (west coast time sigh...), but I sure as hell am going to try!

  8. So, you know what's not fun or cool about Draft Kings...they don't allow it here in Iowa. I do love how they advertise that there is something for every sports fan...every sports fan, except, you Iowans!
