The World's Most Impressive Dishes

I'm obsessed with watching Anthony Bourdain shows every single night. CB and I don't watch that many shows religiously, we more have a handful of the same crap that we watch over and over... like Jeopardy, Million Dollar Listings NY and of course, Anthony Bourdain. If it were up to CB, we'd be watching what the rest of the world was watching -- Game of Thrones -- but alas, my tiny little brain can't handle the insanely complicated plot and cast of characters presented by GOT.

So, we watch Rangers Baseball, then turn it on Bourdain.

He is always eating some crazy food, but unless it is burn your face off spicy, I tell CB that I'd be on board to give it a go.

Being the experienced foodie that I am (because I watch Bourdain, duh) I was intrigued when I saw this Thrillist article highlighting a few of the World's Top 50 Restaurants.

I opened it, scrolled all the way through and go... "WTF IS THIS CRAP?"

Take number 5 for example, Noma || Copenhagen, Denmark.
A FLOWER PIE. WTF.

Bourdain actually eats at this restaurant, Noma,  in one of the episodes of Parts Unknown, but I can't say I remember any flower pies. This is a pile of flowers. Am I missing something? If I ate a pile of flowers, I wouldn't then turn around and be like... HEY BEST NEW RESTAURANT, PEEPS! Highly recommend you splurge and over-indulge on the flower pie!

On a budget? Can't get to Denmark? Try sampling the flower petals at trader joes in your hood.

I'm just hating, I shouldn't knock flower pie until I try it.

I just can't help but think that if I crafted my own list of 50 best restaurants + my favorite dish at each place, it would look a bit different....

Let's start with the top 20

There you go, that's a far more impressive top 20 list than that silly World's-best-you-can't-eat-with-us restaurant list! IMO.

What would you add to the list??!?
What would be your number 1 if you made your own top 20 list?!?!?!

  3. Brian watches GOT and I just can't.. I truly do not understand the hype. Too many weird names to remember. Also, we watch Jeopardy together everyday :)

  5. HAHA I love your list! We LOVE going to Smoke when we come down to Dallas, so delicious! And believe it or not I have never been to Jack in the Box. I hear lots of raves about the tacos!

  6. I know you're going to be like -- Kait, we cannot be friends anymore -- but a local place here in Hawaii makes a flower toast and it is heavenly. Basically, it's like avocado toast with flowers on top and it's really pretty (for Instagram photos), but also really tasty, because the flowers are sweet. IDK about that pie though -- pie is already sweet!

  7. I love Moe's...it's not my number one, but you gotta add Bojangles Cajun Filet Biscuit & Bo Rounds to the list...since I'm from the North we don't have them up here, but once we hit North Carolina it's a MUST!

  11. This is such a good idea for a post haha because I found myself in a similar situation ( I travelled to Seattle and was looking up all the "top" restaurants and I didn't know what half the things on the menus were). Bookmarking later for inspiration! A quick peek at my list? : bacon egg and cheese bagel with a side of breakfast sauce from Mcdonalds. Chicken biscuit breakfast from Chick Fil A (seriously if you hven't had it WHY). Boarshead ham sub from Publix! Fried Chicken from publix! and my favorite: lobster bites from Long John Silvers. I should be ashamed, but I'm really not.
